           The Lion is an image and a name for God used in Scripture that describe aspects of Jesus Christ - the attributes of Jesus are as powerful and majestic as a lion. Christ’s connection to the lion actually goes back much further and is revealed much more thoroughly in Revelation 5. This is clearly referring to Jesus Christ, the Root of David and Lion of the tribe of Judah, who is worthy to open the scroll for being the one to conquer sin and death through his work on the cross (2 Timothy 1:10, Isaiah 25:8, 1 Corinthians 15:25-26, Hosea 13:14).

            Here the true power of the King of kings (Revelation 19:16) and Lord of lords (Revelation 17:14) is revealed as a lion who is majestic, fierce in love, and worthy to be called king.

            Like all creatures, they are made with love through God’s eyes even though they can be a force to be reckoned with. Much like lions, Christians are devoted, strong, leaders, and consumed with giving and receiving love. Christians believe in taking care of each other and helping each other just like the lioness, they are big caretakers and they will help take care of an abandoned cub. Lions are also a symbol of royalty and many Christians believe that God is the highest of all royalty.

          The phrase “GOD LIKE A LION” does not represent a particular Bible verse but communicates the noble and powerful resurrection of God - through His conquering of death, all believers will subsequently share in his victory over “sin, death, and the Devil”.

          Meditate on the verses below on the greatness of God.

          Revelation 5:5

          and one of the elders *said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.”

          Hosea 13:7

          So I will be like a lion to them;

          Like a leopard I will lie in wait by the wayside.

          Lamentations 3:10

          He is to me like a bear lying in wait,

          Like a lion in secret places.

          “God like a lion” phrase and Lion symbol will remind you of God’s power in your life. No situation in your life is greater than Him. Trust Him with the details of your life and know that He will work all things for your good.
